John and Preston are two good keepers, for the sake of our budget we need to see ex Dover keeper Lee Hook playing for someone  it would free up some money for another player in what is looking to be a very small squad.

Absolutely. I can only assume Hook is happy to sit in the stands doing nothing apart from taking his money home (which is his right of course). I didn't think he'd be that sort of person to be honest as I thought he'd really want to be playing football.

Lee has had an operation on his Knee in the close season, that's why he hasn't featured so far from what he told me.

Preston is the best keeper we've seen at the club for a long time. Its a shame we've already got 2 contracted keepers as it would've been great to see him here on a permanent basis.

John is a quality keeper at this level and there's no doubt he'll get himself fixed up somewhere where he'll get regular 1st team football. He was a victim of circumstance here and is unlucky not to still be with us as he never did a lot wrong.

One massive positive we can take from the friendlies is the level of performance Ben Humphrey has put in. He's clearly filled out physically over the last year and has not looked at all out of place. His only minor error was that rush of blood when he cleaned the Colchester forward out just outside the box. In my opinion he's already taken advantage of Hook's injury and could be pushing him for the backup keeper's position, and if he keeps developing the way he is there's no reason he can push Flitney for the no1 shirt.

Ben Humphrey has looked more than a capable number 2 to Flitney so far in these pre-season friendlies. Its a shame Lee Hook is injured as there is no chance of him getting a transfer away from the club thus freeing up some cash for the club.

I think Ross Flitney is a class goalkeeper - playing infront of Schulz and Gilman will certainly help in this year I am sure. Like others have said, Humphrey looks a promising keeper and is certainly worth the number 2 slot.

I really dont see a future for Hook behind those two, so lets hope that he manages to regain his fitness and find himself a club - and also for a selfish point of view it will allow us to invest the money elsewhere.

As for Whitehouse and Edwards, both are very good keepers, but on his day, Flitney can be as impressive.

So many ex-Dover keepers around.

If Whitehouse goes to Welling he'll be in competition with Charlie Mitten who signed another year contract in pre-season. They really rate Mitten and he seems to be doing a good job, even at what, 36 years old?

I'd imagine Whitehouse would be looking to be 1st team and Mitten warming the bench?
