i will stick my neck on the block and say...in the top 6..seems like dartford and ebbsfleet have been busy getting some good players in..so will be a harder league this season...not a run away like newport

Difficult to say whether we can challenge at this stage without having been tested against clubs at our level or above in pre-season, the Colchester game aside. However, I see no reason why having kept the nucleus of last season's squad and adding some quality players such as Gillman, Cutler, Wynter, Tabiri and Hunt we won't make the play offs again at the very least.

Not being a pessimist but I do feel that after 3 years of constant success it may be a year of mediocrity in all honesty. I reckon anywhere around MID-TABLE.

Perhaps to balance this up, I'll stick my neck on the block and say that DAFC will finally banish the demons and have a great FA Cup run and maybe feature in the 1st Round Proper or beyond.

I think we will surpass the number of points (75) that we got last season. Worth noting that when there is a runaway winner 75pts is often good enough for 2nd place but when the league is tight (as it was when the Dons won it) you would not even have got into the playoffs with 75. Our results against probably the 3 biggest well resourced clubs last season (Newport ,Chelmsford , Woking ) were not good & on several of our long away trips we struggled for results. If we address those issues then we can challenge for top spot.

How well we execute set pieces and equally how well we defend them will be key as they will be for most teams. Defenively we are probably better prepared this year but we will not have the accuracy of Nicky Southall's delivery.

I hope for a tight fiercely competative league with us coming out on top with around 86-89 points.

Really can't see how you form that opinion. When you think that we've kept the likes of Flitney, Fish, Schulz, Wallis and Birchall and added players like Gillman, Wynter and Tabiri, aswell as some promising prospects like Cutler and Hunt, to me we look very strong.

I think we may start slowly as we're still trying to add a few players to the squad and it will take a little time to bed in and gel, but once it clicks i'm certain we'll go on a run where we'll be very difficult to beat.

Do you base this opinion on last Saturdays result against Carshalton or on all of the friendly matches that you might have seen so far. There were four new players on show and it was the first time they had played together as a team so I can't imagine for one minute that Martin Hayes was to bothered about the result. He was far to busy making note of their strengths and weaknesses, where they played and how they played. We would all do well to remember that he is still playing catch up after the shenanigans of the close season and probably still has a lot of work to do in the short time left before the start of the new one.

With a probable back four of Fish, Schulz, Gillman and Wynter and a midfield that's not that bad either we certainly have strength in those areas, so why the pessimistic view. I will be very surprised if its a year of mediocrity, there has been far to much quality on display so far to even consider such a thought.

I think we'll be upper mid table/play offs. However, with quite a bit of change close season, perhaps a season of consolidation is perfectly acceptable.

Well, I'm hoping we can do a Newport County and just sweep all before us, the squad looks capable of such a feat. However, getting to the play-offs would be a big acheivement considering what Martin inherited and when.
