Absolute disgrace today! Season ticket has been ripped up and thrown away. Darkest day in DAFC history. At this rate we'll end up in the unibond division 3. Lee Spiller has lovely hair too. Alan Pouton for prime minister. Chris Collings is getting laid tonight (120 quid an hour).

Mmm not to good then ?

Anybody know where it went wrong or was it a case of bad day in the office... Not really had a settled side yet have we what with all the trialists etc, We must be getting close to knowing who's in the starting line up and who the extra signings will be.

In all seriousness though, I don't think we need to worry too much about a 1-0 defeat against Carshalton. I would expect Martin to make final decisions on the likes of I'Anson and Ohakam in the next couple of days aswell as considering whether hes going to consider todays trialists for contracts. I think the next 2 games will see us field more or less our starting line up for Woking and allow them to gel for a couple of games in order that we're ready.

Of course its always good to win pre-season games and keep the confidence up, and we don't want to lose the next 2 as losing is not a great habit to get into, but a couple of defeats in pre-season is never going to be the end of the world for our chances leading into the season.

Get a life you doom and gloom merchants...... It's pre-season friendly's were talking about here. It's all about having a look at the trialists, not the results.
07/08 Season. Played 7, Won 1, Drew 3, Lost 3, end of season = Champions
08/09 Season. Played 8, Won 5, Drew 1, Lost 2, end of season = Champions
09/10 Season. Played 9, Won 4, Drew 0, Lost 5, end of season = 2nd Place
Are you really taking these results that seriously ?

I think thats a fair enough point mate, i too think that pre season results are totally meaningless!

Just thought that even with a small amount of trialists we could put away smaller opposition, but no matter, looking forward to the first real game!

Pity the result can't be put on the club website. But perhaps we only want good news on there. Is that why Bob Keen (hope that's the right name) won't be filming games so that we can't see how poorly the team perform sometimes?

It wasn't a great game today, not helped my a whistle happy referee who must have eaten one too many pies over the summer recess!

Anyway, I didn't think anyone played particularly well today, Birchall had an Ok 1st half but was taken off at half time. Birchall and Hunt have got to be the 1st choice partnership up front.

With the Woking game now only 2 weeks away, I must say I'm not so much concerned with the result, not even the performance of some players on a one off game. However, we don't seem to have an established first choice starting 11 yet. We had 4 trailists today and another 4 on Tuesday. Hopefully, we will use Fridays game to play the preferable starting 11, otherwise it's going to have to be right at the first attempt for the Woking game - or it could be an embarassment - especially if we play like we did today.

Anyway, onwards and upwards, hopefully today was just an off day, and that our 2 remaining home friendlies we can put the fininshing touches together in regards to players we want to sign, and making sure we start to establish a starting 11 ready for 2 weeks time - it's not far away!

Surely we've made a decision on people like L'Anson and Elliot Charles by now? From the outside looking in we seem to be leaving things a bit late, with less than two weeks to go till Woking away, and only 12 outfield players signed on. Even if we do make the 4-5 signings needed in the next 10 days I dont envy Hayes having to try and gel them together as a team in the 2-3 training sessions we have left.

Tobefairlike, Carshalton created nothing other than producing a good save out of flitney. Their goal came courtesy of a beautifully planted header from bobby (well worth another look on his heading prowess alone.) And yeah the referree was very fat. Wallis had a tasty long distance swerving shot saved well by their keeper. Thats about it. Agree about fielding a more settled side for our final few friendlies.

According to the team sheet on the main site we had six triallists today.
How do you know we will have another four on Tuesday? Do you mean four different ones?

It's what I heard Jim say before the match - I don't know if they are/will be different trialists but apparently we had 4 trialists today (there may have been more) 3 wingers and 1 centre back.

There were three new wingers and an unseen centre back in addition to I'Anson and Ohakam. So six triallists altogether.

The additional four triallist on show today were Bobby Aison(6), Joe Benjemen (7), Dee Okajee(!5), and Ismael Welsh (8). I also understand there will be a further three new triallists against Margate on Tuesday night. The latter three (wingers) are certainly worth another look but Aison did little to excite apart from the exquisitly placed header into the wrong net in the first half.

I agree it wasn't a very impressive game, although Carshalton were not preparaed to do us any favours on a bone hard pitch and got stuck in. Charles played along side Birchell in the first held and then along side Hunt in the second. I can't make up my mind about Charles, he worked hard made some nice touches but I just can't see many goals coming from him.

With the introduction of Wallis, Okaham and I'Anson in the second hald the side livened up but their were not too many clear cut chances. Wallis did produce a glorious, rasping driver from a distance but was denied reward by an impressive save by their keeper which must have burnt his finger tips though. I would imagine that I'Anson and Okaham will be the next ones to put pen to paper as both look more than capable of holding a place in the side. Personally I think that I'Anson is a better prospect on the wing more than inside but others may think differently.

My own view is that the defence and midfield is very secure, but should Birchall be missing from the attack for any reason, goals my be hard to come by. I would certainly like to see another striker of his calibre to compliment what is looking to be a very strong squad.

I must say after todays game I do feel a little concerned, Ok it was a friendly, away on a bone hard ground, but none of the trialist caught my eye , in fact the only two players I found with credit would go to Wallis and Birchall, also if Welford is croked, and we are going to start with Hunt and Birchall , why not start them togather instead of one replacing the other at half time , but the basics were short , three of our corners didnt reach the near post , no good bringing Ollie up if the first defender clears the ball, and at times they packed there box with defenders but we couldn't break them down and basically shot high or wide from distance, our passing at times was quite good , but didn't make much headway forward , and like our performace looked disjointed, but that must be expected with players that were out there and the changes made throughout the game

If its true about the trailist on Tuesday that means the first game the starting 11 will have is the friendly v Cray 8 days before we take on Woking , but we hope Martin wont sign players for the sake of signing them, he needs to sign the right players, even if we sign them after the start of the season
