Welcome to the Dover Athletic Unofficial Fans Forum

This is primarily a facility for supporters of Dover Athletic Football Club, and whilst we welcome visitors and contributors from other areas of non-league football, we ask you to respect our forum and its members:

  • No personally offensive remarks (such as obscene, racist, sexist or threats of a physical nature), or libellous posts.

  • You are responsible for what you post, so think about what you write, make sure it's on the appropriate board and try to stay on the topic.

  • When starting a new thread, check that there isn't already one dealing with the subject, to avoid unnecessary repetition.

  • Use the Private Messaging system if you wish to communicate directly with another user, rather than the discussion boards.

  • Do not try to beat the swear filter, this is a family forum and it is here for a reason.

  • Avoid copying articles from other online sources directly on to the board. If you do quote another source then provide a link to the original article in your posting, as a courtesy to the original author and so that the quotes can be verified.

Whilst we do not want to suffocate free debate and freedom of speech we will not stand for any abuse of this forum. Users that post solely to tarnish the good name of Dover Athletic, launch thinly veiled attacks on the people who give up their time purely for the love of the club, or make personal remarks to other forum users will not be tolerated and will have their forum privileges removed.

If you feel that any posts, or users, are contravening these guidelines, you can alert the Moderators of it by clicking on the report button (a red exclamation mark in a warning triangle) on the top right hand corner of the posting, near the "Quote" button. This will take you to a screen that will walk you through the reporting process, and the post will then be referred to the Moderating Team for review. You can also email the Administrators directly at: dovorian@live.co.uk

We will endeavour to issue a yellow card to individuals who break the rules, but there may be occasions where a straight red is the preferred option. The Mods will not hesitate to apply that if it is considered appropriate.

Finally please enjoy this facility and make good use of it.

Registration Information

Registering on the Dover Athletic Unofficial Fans Forum

In the past we have had a policy of only allowing New User Accounts that had been authorised by an Administrator. This was due to the high amount of nuisance and spam postings we were receiving that were ruining the forum.

We have decided to replace this condition with an alternative:

  • New users will be able to authorise their own account via the email link that is sent to them.

  • The first THREE postings by a new user will be held in a Moderation Queue until they are authorised by a Moderator.

  • When a user has made three authorised postings the restriction is removed and they will be able to post freely.

We feel this will be a better system than having to wait for the account to be authorised by an Administrator.

The requirement to send an email prior to authorisation will no longer be necessary, and any one of 6 Moderators will be able to authorise the postings, whereas accounts were having to be authorised manually by 2 Administrators.

Using this policy we should be able to filter out the users who want to use this board for other means as most spammers will only make one or two postings before they are caught and deleted.

The board has been pretty much spam-free since we brought in the Admin authorised accounts about 9 months ago, hopefully this system will prove just as successful.

New Forum Features

Postby Admin » Mon Aug 17, 2009 12:14 am

New Features on the Dover Athletic Unofficial Fans Forum

  • FAQ [Frequently Asked Questions]
Like the old forum there is an FAQ page, which should be able to help with most queries. The FAQ link is at the top right of the page, just below the banner.

  • Your Profile, Private Messages and Options
Registered Users have a USER CONTROL PANEL, where you can edit your preferences, your profile, view and send Private Messages etc. The User Control Panel and Private Message control links are at the top left of the page, just below the banner.

  • Save Draft Posts
When posting, there is now an extra "Save" button, which allows you to save a draft of the posting, so it can be completed later. Drafts are saved in the Manage Drafts section of the USER CONTROL PANEL, and can be reloaded from there.

  • Someone has replied since you started typing...
If, when submitting a post, someone has replied to the thread while you were typing your own, you will be given the opportunity to adjust your post before it is finally submitted. You may find someone has already answered the same question that you were, so you may not want to post after all. If you do, then you'll need to click the "Submit" button again to confirm.

  • Refer a post to the Moderators
Users can refer posts to the Moderators if they feel they are breaking the forum guidelines. If a user wishes to do this they will find the report button (a red exclamation mark in a warning triangle) on the top right hand corner of the posting, near the "Quote" button. Clicking it will take you to a screen that will walk you through the reporting process, and the post will then be referred to the Moderating team for review.

  • Make Friends and Ignore Foes
Registered Users can specify other users as "Friends" or "Foes", via the Friends and Foes section of their USER CONTROL PANEL. Each have their own specific properties , but the best thing to know about "Foes" is that it will basically ignore their posts, and you won't be able to see them on the forum.

  • Editing Facility
Registered Users can edit their posts for a duration of 2 minutes after they have submitted them. The "Edit" button will be in the top right corner of the message pane, near the "Quote" button. Clicking it will take you back to the Post Submission page and you will be able to make your adjustments there.

  • And finally... what the hell is the red asterisk?
The red asterisk (or star) shows registered users which threads they have posted in.
We hope these few pointers will be of help. As Admins and Moderators we're still learning how to use the forum ourselves and when we find more things that we think will be useful, we'll post them forthwith.

Enjoy the new surroundings!

Postby Admin » Wed Aug 19, 2009 4:49 pm

The forum e-mail address has changed and is now:

This is now the address that will send out notifications of Private Messages and Post Replies etc.

Please make sure that your email client will receive this address and not treat it as spam, otherwise you will not receive the notifications.

Thanks,
